Bracknell Roofing duo make Roofing Today’s 30 Under Thirty list
We are delighted that two of our rising stars at Bracknell Roofing have been named in Roofing Today magazine’s 30 Under Thirty.
Freddie Wade (24), a Contracts Manager at our South East branch, Ringmer, East Sussex, and Angus Blair-Park (22), who works in the Commercial Department at our Burton upon Trent head office, were both recognised by the magazine, which is throwing the spotlight on talented young people in the roofing industry.
Roofing Today Editor Dr Claire Griffiths said that the magazine was at the forefront of “an industry-wide drive to recognise, encourage and reward high standards of professionalism and exceptional customer service in the ranks of youngsters entering this exciting industry”.
The 30 Under Thirty feature recognised young roofing professionals who are excelling in their training, on the tools, in specification, in estimating or in administration.
Freddie joined Bracknell Roofing as a Trainee Contracts Manager. He has worked his way up, next becoming an Assistant Contracts Manager; in the summer of 2017, he was promoted again to become a Contracts Manager. He manages up to ten contracts at any one time and is responsible for ensuring that Bracknell Roofing delivers each project on time, on budget and to a very high standard of workmanship. Equally as important is the priority placed on health & safety management through proactive activity to ensure that our contractors – and other trades – work safely.
Freddie has his sights set on becoming a Branch Manager and said: “Bracknell Roofing saw the potential in me as a trainee and has invested in me at every stage of my career development, and I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside Regional Contracts Director Chris Beech, who has given me the benefit of his experience.”
Angus joined Bracknell Roofing as an 18-year-old apprentice straight from sixth form. His potential was spotted by the directors and he was promoted to an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, specifically because it gave him more exposure to larger commercial contracts. And it’s a role he has flourished in.
As part of a team of two, Angus and his colleague have been given the responsibility for reshaping the company’s Commercial Department to both streamline and systemise the department’s operations, with great emphasis on centrally coordinated processes (which had previously been managed individually at the branch level across the company’s seven branches).
Angus is also in the second year of a foundation degree in Construction Management at Derby College, after which he will undertake a two-year degree at Nottingham Trent University in Quantity Surveying. He said: “Bracknell Roofing is giving me a great opportunity to play a key role that meets the needs of the business but also supports my ambition to become a Quantity Surveyor.”
Speaking about Bracknell Roofing’s standing in Roofing Today’s 30 Under Thirty, our Divisional Director Simon Smith said that he was immensely proud of the business, as well as Freddie and Angus.
“Investing in our people is at the core of what we do, and we have been very proactive in providing everyone at Bracknell Roofing with the opportunity to achieve their full potential through training, development and investment every step of the way in their careers,” said Simon.
“Angus and Freddie exemplify two young men who recognise the opportunity in the roofing industry and are taking full advantage of the support that Bracknell Roofing offers. And, in turn, we enjoy the full commitment of two very ambitious and motivated people.
“It’s a proud moment for Bracknell Roofing, as it sends a very clear message to anyone who has aspirations of a career in the roofing industry that we are the team to join and be part of because we recognise, reward and retain the best talent in the industry.”
