Bracknell Roofing has played an instrumental role as the flat roofing specialist in the installation of the first hot melt flat roofing system to be manufactured in the UK.

The innovative project was undertaken at 2 Glass Wharf, a cutting-edge commercial building located on the waterside in the heart of the city centre, and saw the Bracknell team install the IKO Permatec Hot Melt system.

The system has provided the stunning structure with a modern high performing roof and is the only waterproofing solution designed specifically for a roof with zero falls.  

The installation saw the IKO Permatec solution, which is based on a specially formulated combination of refined bitumen, synthetic rubbers, filters and other additives, melted at a temperature of 180 degrees into molten liquid. This was then poured and distributed across the roof space over two nominal 3mm coats with an embedment fleece between the layers. A final protection cap sheet was applied during the installation of the second 3mm coat and to complete the roof, the area was then paved using concrete slabs with a wash stone border finish.

Bracknell’s dedicated flat roofing team was chosen for the complex installation due to its in-depth knowledge and many years’ experience in the area.
